FileInsight displays information on disks, files and shows live disk activity.

Live disk activity

Watch a live display of what files are changing on disk. The type of change is reported including creation, deletions, name changes, content modifications, metadata changes, owner changes and attribute changes.

File information shown

Path, BSD device, created date, modified date, attributes modified date, last accessed date, type, uniform type identifier, tags, size, resource fork sizes, size including metadata, total size allocated, preferred I/O size, block size, number of blocks, time to read, owner and group, node id, parent node id, hard link count, extended attributes names, permissions, ACL entries, file flags, immutable, hidden, is alias or symbolic link (with target resolution and broken link detection), classic MacOS type and creator, quarantine details (where a file was downloaded from and when), iCloud status, code signing status, notarization status, entitlements, Spotlight metadata (Finder comments, download source, last used date), and hashes MD4, MD5, SHA1, SHA224, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512.

Disk information shown

Path, URL, BSD device, format (human readable and raw), creation date, modification date, number of files, number of folders, size, available space, reclaimable (purgeable) space, block size, preferred I/O size, read/write performance, vendor, model, protocol, revision, ejectable, removable, media UUID, volume UUID, media content, FileVault encryption status, read-only status, APFS clone support, volume role (System, Data, Preboot, Recovery, etc.), network volume detection (SMB, AFP, NFS), supports greater than 4gb files, and 30+ disk format capability/interface flags.

Printing is supported. You can view info on invisible files and folders.
